Bandages protect your skin after the tattoo. Once the bandage is removed gently clean your skin with liquid soap and warm water, make sure to clean thoroughly.
Do not use any wash rags just your finger tips. If your tattoo feels weepy or sticky wash it thoroughly. It is important to wash your tattoo 3- 5 times each day for the first week.
The first two days after getting your tattoo all you need to do is wash it. After two days you may start using a white unscented lotion. Apply this lotion in thin layers do not over apply. Applying once or twice a day is generally sufficient. It is important to remember that other household products like cleaners and other soaps can irritate new tattoos.
Some shampoos with strong fragrance or concentrated detergents should be avoided during healing. Never submerge or soak your tattoo until it has healed. Tanning has very dramatic effects on the color of Tattoos. If you want your colors to stay clean avoid tanning. During the healing process your tattoo may get very dry and itchy. Never ever pick at your tattoo.
Washing your skin 3-5 times a day can dry skin out and your skin is regenerating from the tattoo process. Tattoos generally take 12-16 days to heal completely.
